Global shipping giant Maersk has announced a temporary suspension of vessel calls and cargo acceptance at Haifa Port, Israel.
The decision comes after a careful assessment of risk reports related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, particularly potential threats associated with calling at the port and the implications for crew safety.
Maersk emphasized that the safety and security of its crew and operations remain the company’s top priority. The suspension is a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding personnel, assets, and customers’ cargo amid increasing regional instability.
The company is working closely with affected customers to explore alternative transport solutions in order to minimize disruptions to supply chains. Maersk stated that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and stands ready to reassess the suspension once conditions are deemed safe and viable.
Meanwhile, Maersk confirmed that operations at Ashdod Port remain active, and alternative arrangements are being made for customers. Inland transportation services within Israel are still available through existing partnerships with local providers.
