AMS Filing
What is the Automated Manifest System?
The Automated Manifest System (AMS) is an electronic information transmission system operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Air and ocean shipments into the U.S. require an AMS filing with detailed information about the cargo, as a security measure.
What is an AMS Filing?
AMS filing is a document submitted to the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) that lists all cargoes shipped to the country. An AMS declaration must be made either 24 hours before loading or at least 24 hours before arrival at the first US port
The system applies to all modes of transportation, including air, rail, and land. It provides information about the carrier, freight forwarder, importer, exporter, the departure, arrival, and release of cargo.
Who is Required to File AMS?
The AMS needs to be filed by the Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) or the freight forwarder at the export port. The freight forwarder is responsible for any discrepancies in the provided information. Furthermore, they may face severe fines up to US$ 10,000.
With our AMS filing service, we can help to prepare and submit maritime cargo manifest information to the US Customs authority, facilitating the advanced electronic submission of manifest information of shipments.
